In October 2024, Higherlife Foundation graduated the first Female Leadership Development Program (FLDP) group.
The FLDP, a brainchild of Higherlife and Delta Philanthropies President and CEO Elizabeth Tanya Masiyiwa, is a first-of-its-kind leadership training program designed for women within the Econet Group with leadership potential to prepare them for the C-Suite.
The intensive had a skills development component, provided mentorship opportunities, was a platform for networking and encouraged the pursuit of personal growth.
This year’s cohort had 14 participants from Ecocash, Econet Wireless, Steward Bank, Higherlife Foundation and Delta Philanthropies.

Here is what some of the FLDP participants from the Higherlife Foundation and Delta Philanthropies family had to say about their experience:
Nyaradzo Mutandwa, Procurement Manager – Higherlife Foundation

Through the FLDP have seen myself grow in several respects. In the past, one of my biggest mistakes was not contributing to meetings, but I have now realised that this limited my potential. After going through the FLDP and reading the book, (Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office), I have made it intentional that in every meeting, I say something, and I am no longer fearful.
I am on my final lap in completing my Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply qualification. The goal-setting sessions have given me the push I needed to complete the process.
Blessing Mukube, Head Teacher – Simba International School

“Before the FLDP I used to think like an employee, that is the mistake I used to make. Now I think like a partner, in the process our shared goals. I now see my workplace as a good field to achieve my God-given purpose. Instead of just collecting my monthly paycheck, I get valuable transferrable skills. Instead of thinking short-term, I now think long-term.”
Cathrine Gotosa – Finance Manager, Delta Philanthropies

“I have developed the confidence to manage stakeholders effectively, set clear goals and delegate tasks. It has empowered me to take ownership of my career. By addressing past mistakes, such as neglecting my own responsibilities while doing the work of others, I have advanced to take more senior roles. I am eager to leverage these newfound skills to achieve success in both my work and personal life. Thanks to the FLDP, I am more confident, more focused and ready to take on future leadership opportunities.”
This year, the FLDP is set to expand its footprint within the Econet Group and other affiliated organisations.
